A teacher once told her class to participate in activity using a sheet of paper. She told them to crumple it up and stomp all over it. She then told her students to pick it up, and try to un-crumple it and straighten out all the damage done to he paper… but they couldn’t. The teacher then said “When you bully someone, you have the same effect on others as you did with the paper: the paper will be fine but it will never be the same again, and those scars will always be a reminder” as she demonstrated to her class the effects of bullying using the sheet of paper.
Recently there has been a lot of matters going on at school especially with our freshmen. We’ve finally had enough of it and took a stand up against bullying. Bullying hurts and it isn’t easy to deal with, but one step at a time really does make a huge difference. Today at lunch, the Peer Counselors successfully got the student body to sign the pink posters in support of Anti-bullying. This week they’ve also instated the “pink sheet paper” in every classroom and to students who wish to display the sheet of paper on their lockers as a symbol to all, just like the in the paper exercise. Students hi-five/fist bump the pink paper to remind everyone to take a stand and show support.
Awareness is one thing and showing support is another, but if you see something happen, will you turn a blind eye? Stand up, speak up, and spread love not hate. Make a change and dare to be different.
I’m really big on anti-bullying in my school and I want to spread that.
